SOME HISTORY ON JUSTIN
At the early age of 12 years old, while most boys were playing sports, Justin Todd Herod started playing country music in the local bars and clubs in his hometown of Palestine Texas. It was at this early age that Justin learned how to play and sing and entertain crowds of people. It was also where he learned about the wilder side of life. Both of these experiences would prove to be a destructive combination later on in life.
Justin grew up in a good home, but grew up fast in a home filled with comfort and love but also pain. During his early childhood Justin's father was a well know Texas country singer, and sang country music in the local clubs and bars. This lifestyle brought with it many scars as young Justin grew up in the bar scene, constantly around drinking and parties, and eventually living in a broken home. Justin vowed that he would never drink and live a life that would turn out this way. But music was about the only thing Justin was passionate about, except for one other thing, a love for God. Even in the midst of early painful experiences of violence, alcohol, and the separation of his parents, Justin had grown up in church. In the midst of all the confusion Justin gave his heart to God at the tender age of eight years old.
Well things began to change in his life, the outlaw father had a tremendous change and surrendered His life to God and became a Pastor of a church (30 yrs so far), with a new home life it would seem that Justin would have taken a different direction, but that was not the case. He continued to try and do the one thing he was most happy with, writing , playing and singing the music he loved.
As the years flew by and Justin's life began to spin out of control, just like the prodigal son he ran away from God only to find that nothing else would ever offer the peace that he knew as a boy. Justin returned to the strongest love in his life...Jesus Christ. As a result He began to follow his heart as a songwriter, writing songs about his life and the forgiveness he found with Jesus. Later these songs made their way onto his first album, which led into full-time music ministry taking Justin across the country in a ministry called Backroads Ministries. To date Justin has recorded five Christian Country albums each with songs reaching the radio charts. Justin has worked with ministries like Prison Fellowship, and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, developing a heart for evangelism and ministry. As a talented songwriter several songs have been recorded by other artist as well. Justin's music is real, transparent, thought provoking, and relatable to all who listen. Justin writes and sings about his own "real" life experiences with each and every song pointing the listener to a relationship with Jesus. Justin is also a good musician, and drawing from years of experience in music, knows how to entertain, but with ministry always at the forefront of every concert. His ten years in full-time ministry has equipped him with the skills and abilities to reach audiences of most every venue. From mainstream churches, to rodeos, to fairs, festivals, or a prison, he is meaningful and impacting when takes the stage. But he himself knows that it is the spirit of God that is in control and deserves all the glory and honor. And this is exactly why this ministry works so well. So before planning your next event for your church or organization, consider Justin Todd Herod for ministry. In a world filled with talented musicians and singers why Justin? He's not just another musician, he is a minister.
